I hereby present these several texts from the book of Jeremiah, the Prophet, for our consideration:
Starting in Chapter 18, God speaks to Jeremiah, giving them (Israel) a choice: repent or be punished!
Note the word “relent” (NKJV), “repent” (KJV) in verse 8. The subject is: “The instant I speak concerning a nation & concerning a kingdom to PLUCK UP, to PULL DOWN, & to DESTROY it, if that nation against whom I have spoken turns from its evil, then I will RELENT/REPENT of the disaster that I thought to bring upon it.” Vv.7,8.
If the LORD God repents, why can’t we repent? God does no evil but will repent over the “planned” destruction He has in store for those who are persistent/insistent in their evil doings.
Here we find a classic “if”/ “then” clause (see previous articles on this important clause). Verse 8 starts out with “if” as well as v. 10. “If” means “whether” (or conditional in Hebrew). The Greek “if” (a conditional particle), “in case that” “provided,” etc. If, or the Hebrew means “whether,” most readers of the Bible never realize how important this word “if” is.
In essence the LORD told Jeremiah that the house of Israel must REPENT, i.e., TURN FROM their evil ways or else DISASTER would befall them!
The story is, God told the Hebrews “to build & to plant” (v.9) BUT if and when that Kingdom does evil in God’s sight (continually)… “that it does not obey My voice, THEN I will relent (or repent) concerning the good with which I said I would benefit it,” v.10.
It was obvious that the men of Judah (inhabitants) had not TURNED AWAY from their evil ways, hence, “Behold, I am fashioning a disaster & devising a plan against you, RETURN now everyone from his (and her) evil way, & make your ways & your doings good,” v. 11.
So, dear ones, what do you think the LORD will do to America “if” we do not TURN from our evil ways?
Do you suppose that the horrid condition of our nation – today! – is going to bring God’s great displeasure up us? We have the socialist/communist, the LGBTQ plus Terrorists, the Islamic terrorists, the drug/child trafficking/human trafficking cartels within our borders, we have thousands upon thousands of illegals pouring into this nation weekly, we have the U.S. government agencies themselves working against morality & decency. We have a president that is senile, crooked as a snake & is working against, not for, the good of America.
Have we as a “one nation under God” forgotten God? God’s indictment against the house of Israel/Judah was “Because my people have forgotten me, they have burned incense to worthless idols,” (v.15) hence, “to make their land desolate & a perpetual hissing” (v.16), “I will scatter them… before the enemy… I will show them the back & not the face in the day of their calamity,” v. 17.
Are you ready, Americans, for this? Are you ready for the evil that God will permit to befall us?

There are dozens of “if”/“then” clauses in your Bible. Pay close attention to them.
Jeremiah discourse is supposed to have been delivered some time in the reign of Jehoiakim. Vv.7-10 (Jer. 18) contains what may be called God’s decree by which the whole of His conduct towards man (humanity) is regulated: If He purposes destruction against an offending person or nation, “if” that person/nation repents & turns to God, he/she shall live & not die.
God deals with pagan nations/individuals as well as with his own. As I write, God is dealing with America as well as Israel et al. (please take time to visit jesuscallstoall.com for current (and past) prophecies).
Has not America (under Biden et al.) become a “perpetual hissing” (Jer. 18:16), a mockery, a joke? China, Russia, North Korea, Iran et al. are not afraid of the USA, nor do they respect us. We have become as a lion with no teeth! Yes, a toothless lion! a “hissing” in Jeremiah’s day (“sherikoth”, a shrieking/hissing) was an expression of contempt!
Instead of the nation of Israel repenting over God’s Word, the people said, “come, & let us devise devices against Jeremiah.” Trust me, if one dares to say a word against today’s backslidden Church or the wicked “leftist/socialist/communist/woke” government, get ready for them to make WAR against you!!! No need in me telling you all the years of sheer HELL we have endured because we dare to speak on the behalf of God. Few want to hear the Word “REPENT.” This nation wants God to bless it in its SINS. Take a good look at what America has become – men believing they can get pregnant, women believing they can become a man, kids do not really know who or what they are. The government/church officials are “Out of order” (with exceptions). Time to REPENT so that God will RELENT over the EVIL He has planned.
