Karl Marx (KM) was born in 1818. On both sides of his male ancestors had been scholars & distinguished rabbis. However his father decided to break ties of the past both professionally and religiously. He withdrew his family from the local Jewish synagogue to join the congregation of a local Protestant faith. Karl Marx was 6 years old when this happened. Some feel that this was the cause of Marx’s rejection of God, at least some of his biographers. We don’t know how long Marx held this attitude before he began his WAR against Christianity. We do know that K.M. began his university career at 17. It was at the University of Berlin that the intellectual forces in Marx took deep root.
KM studied the Materialism of Epicurus, a Gk. philosopher which held that the goal of man should be a life characterized by serenity of mind & the enjoyment of pleasure – eating, drinking etc. Acts 17:18 speaks of this: “Then certain Epicurean & Stoic philosophers encountered him (Paul)…”
These two influential schools of philosophy abounded during the days of the early Church. The Epicurean school was founded by Epicurus in 300 B.C. Stoicism was founded by Zeno (300 B.C.), which advocated conduct “according to nature”. The “luxury & sensuous pleasure held by Epicurus & “nature” was interpreted that the practical ethics of the two schools were virtually identical. The unity of human nature was a fundamental doctrine of the Stoics.
Marx’s study of Materialism (of Epicurus) allowed for an energizing principle in matter. His twisted thinking, that if matter were autodynamic, it would DO AWAY with the NEED for a Creator, a Designer of a governing force in the universe. Marx’s anti-religious (Jewish/Christianity) sentiments found further expression in his thesis when he chose for its motto the cry of Prometheus: “In one word – I hate all the gods!” (Prometheus, Gk. myth, a titan who steals fire from heaven for the benefit of humankind: in punishment, Zeus chains him to a rock where a vulture (or eagle) comes each day to eat his liver, which grows back each night. Promethean was a life-bringing spirit.
While at the University of Berlin, Marx fell in with a left-wing school of Hegelians who were followers of the German philosopher, Georg Wilhelm Hegel (look these up). It was this time that Marx was ready to start a “revolution” against Christianity – to LIQUIDATE it! This very same spirit consumes the left-wing radicals of the democratic/demon-cratic party as I write this. They are full of RAGE & HATE!!! They, literally, are full of the DEVIL!!!
Bible = False Book
Yep! David F. Strauss had published his book, Life of Jesus (1835), which shocked all Germany with his rants & contention that the Gospels were false documents & were merely myths of the Christian religion.
Bruno Bauer (BB) (another Christ-hater) wrote along the same lines. So, BB was anti-Christian, was an associate of KM, & was discharged from the University. This anti-Christ went as far as to say that Jesus never existed!, hence, Biblical Christianity was a fraud. How many on the “Left” et al. believe this… or at least say they do?

Bauer & Marx published a Journal of Atheism. Did this make Christianity untrue? Nope! Not at all!
In 1841, another antichrist protagonist tried his hand at destroying Christianity, Ludwig Feuerbach, who came out with his Essence of Christianity, which ridiculed Christianity, but place man as the highest form of intelligence. HUBRIS! This writing caught Marx’s attention, in which he became fascinated with it. Marx had written in his thesis for a doctorate, “to recognize as the highest divinity, the human self-consciousness itself!”
Later…
Marx & Bauer collaborated in writing a pamphlet which was Revolutionary in flavor – the “R” spirit flamed high in Marx. Can we not say that the Woke/Political Correct/Antifa et al. warriors are not INFLAMED… literally speaking? If only God’s people would be “inflamed” (spiritually speaking), we would see a different USA.
Jenney Van Westphalen
Daughter of a German aristocrat, corresponded with KM for 7 years. In Edmund Wilson’s, “To the Finland Station”, Marx wrote: “Jenny! If we can but weld our souls together, then with contempt shall I fling my glove in the world’s face, then I shall stride through the wreckage a creator!” (p.115). There you have it! Marx wanting to replace God!
Just a Commie Bum!
Yep! Marx was just a BUM, living off others. He never acquired a profession, a regular means of support. Allow me to quote from one of his biographers: “Regular work bored him; conventional occupation put him out of humor. Without a penny in his pocket… he surveyed the world with a lordly air… Throughout his life he was hard up. He was ridiculously ineffectual in his endeavors to cope with the economic needs of his household & family; & his incapacity in monetary matters involved him in an endless series of struggles & catastrophes. He was always in debt; was incessantly being dunned by creditors. Half his household goods were always at the pawnshop. His budget defied all attempts to set it in order. His bankruptcy was chronic. The thousands upon thousands which Engels handed over to him melted away in his fingers like snow.” (from Otto Ruhle’s, Karl Marx, pp.383-384).
So, much for this magnified BUM that started Communism. As for man, the Communist philosopher teaches that he is a graduate animal – nevertheless, a real god of the universe. It was L. Feuerbach that said, “The turning point of history will be the moment man becomes aware that the ONLY GOD of man is man himself.” Don’t we see this spirit in the current anti-MAGA movement? Lenin had said, “We must COMBAT religion – this is the ABC of materialism, & consequently of Marxism.” Marx’s objective in life was (as he wrote) “TO DETHRONE God & DESTROY Capitalism.” But, as we all know, Marx failed!!! God is still upon His Eternal Throne.
Commie Manifesto
Both Marx & Engels admitted that critics of Communism could say that it “abolishes eternal truths, it abolishes all religion, & all morality, instead of constituting them on a new basis; it therefore acts in contradiction to all past historical experience.” (see M & E, Communist Manifesto, p.40).
While the current rioters trash & burn, heap scorn & threats upon the Trump admin. et al., they offer no solution to the pollution. If they had one, over half the nation would not have voted for Trump. As for me, I am apolitical. At this time the democratic party is totally evil. (Not worthy of being a party member.) But Trump’s MAGA is a worthy cause, seeing that the DP nearly destroyed America under the Clintons, Obama, Biden.

Marx & the Bible
Did Marx believe in God & the Bible in his early years? He was involved in Judaism & Christianity. But, of course, a knowledge of the Bible implies neither a regard for its teaching nor a recognition of its authority. Had Marx believed in Christian “spiritual warfare”, he could have become a true revolutionary. If he had held to “God is supreme, man under His authority”, he would have turned out very differently. Because of his twisted belief – that human beings must unite in a revolutionary struggle to free themselves from exploitation, he became a SLAVE to humanism, Satan being his “Master”. His illusory comforts of Communism damned him!
Lutheranism
Lutheranism was the predominate Christian denomination. Marx’s father converted to Lutheranism in 1817, Heinrich (Heshel) Marx. The law did not permit Jews to work as civil servants or as lawyers, & those who did not convert to Christianity were obliged to accept subordinate positions in society. It was not until 1824 that Heinrich’s children, including Karl, were baptized (born in 1818). So, KM was brought up being familiar with Judaism & Christianity. Both Marx & Engels were not in the beginning HOSTILE to Christianity. Friedrich Engels was born in 1820 in Barmen, Germany. He, like Marx, fell in with the radical left-wing Hegelians, becoming an agnostic & a Cynic, therefore Communism became his love in which Marx led him into “Utopian Communism”, as it was called. He convinced Engels that Utopian Communism was the only & real hope for humanity – but it called for a militant revolution! Both Marx & Engels, working as a team, launched an International Communist League based on violent revolutions. In 1847, they gained control of the Workers’ Education Society in Brussels. Later they together wrote the Communist Manifesto, laying out what Communism stood for:
1) the overthrow of capitalism,
2) the abolition of private property,
3) the elimination of the family unit,
4) the abolition of all classes,
5) the overthrow of all governments, &
6) the establishment of a Commie order with communal ownership of property in a classless, stateless society.
From the Beginning
From the beginning the revolution in Germany had been anemic & by May, 1849, it had reached a state of inglorious collapse! Marx was given 24 hours to GET OUT!!! He went to France, which he later moved to England.
Union of Believers,
If Marx had stayed with Christ, the world would have never experienced what it experienced under Communism. As a young man, as stated, Marx was not hostile to Christianity. He wrote a piece, The Union of Believers with Christ (1835). In this writing he spoke of how Christians are able to turn to their fellow believers because they share with them an inner bond, through the sacrificial love of Christ Jesus. He wrote about comfort in sorrow, trust, love, glory… all found in Christianity.
What caused KM to go from belief in Christ to belief in man?’ from love to hate?; from Christian commitment to militant atheism? It is said that all this came about when Marx studied Aeschylus’s Prometheus, “In one word – I hate all the gods”. His Promethean instinct surfaced. In his doctoral dissertation at Jena (1841), he spoke/wrote these words. He went from being free to being a slave to hatred.
Christ died on the cross in order to FREE the human race from slavery, hatred, murder etc., etc. Because of SIN, men became alienated from their Creator. Eph. 2:1-9 is a good place to start reading about this state of being. Marx’s concept of Entfremdung (alienation) is not unknown in the Bible – estrangement of humans from their Creator. Marx, with his twisted ideals, insisted that the alienation experienced by humankind was alienation, not from God, but from themselves. He believed man could free man, hence, there was no need of God! He believed that “salvation” lay within history, not beyond it. He believed in the “here & now”, not in the “sweet bye & bye”. He stopped believing in Scripture, e.g., “He (Christ) died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who DIED for them & Rose again” – 2 Cor. 5:15, NKJV.
Jesus said, “The theif (Satan) does not come except to STEAL, & to KILL, & to DESTROY. I have come that they (lost ) may have LIFE…” – Jn. 10:10 This LIFE can be lived & enjoyed NOW because of what Christ did centuries ago. Marxism is a MURDEROUS, SATANIC system of DEATH!
2 Cor. 5:17-19
Let me quote more from Paul’s epistle to the Corinthians: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he (also she) is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, & has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing (lit., reckoning) their trespasses to them, & has committed to us the word of reconciliation.”
So, being a born-again Christian (Jn. 3:3,5) makes us “ambassadors for Christ” (2 Cor. 5:20). While Marx rejected this most wonderful calling, others have taken up Jesus’ offer to “go ye into all the world and make disciples of all the nations,” -Mt. 28:19. Marx started a bloody revolution to bring men, women, boys & girls into DAMNATION, not SALVATION!!!
One critic of Marx wrote: “In place of this (reconciliation) Marx repudiated Biblical teaching by means of quotation out of context carefully selected allusions, a tendentious use of the theological interpretation, & outright parody.”
Truth or Lies?
Take your pick: Marx or Messiah? Trashing the bible will not make the Truth go away. “The Bible is a credible historical record of the events, it contains or as a repository of wisdom,” wrote Edward Hulmes, Spalding Professorial Fellow, World Religious, Dept. of Theology, Univ. of Durham, England.
Marx & the Scriptures
Several of his works are replete with Biblical quotes & allusions. Of course he used them to undermine the authors & believers. The struggles for human liberation, for example, & the creation of a New World Order foreseen in Rev. 21:1, are accommodated to Marx’s own vision of the future: “Now I saw a new heaven & a new earth, for the first heaven & the first earth had passed away…”
It is noted, despite his atheism & his despisal of all religions (Christianity/Judaism esp.), Marx was never a true atheist. He spent his latter years fighting Christianity and Judaism. Why fight something that you believe does not exist? – God! For the Bible’s essential message, Marx had only hateful derision. What a miserable soul! I look at these left/far left etc. radicals that want to destroy this nation, destroy Christianity et al., they are miserable as HELL itself. No joy, no hope – only hatred for what is high & holy. I suggest these commies etc. leave America and go to other countries where militant Islam, true Communism is the religion. Why stay in a nation that rejects Militant Islam / Marxist Communism etc.? Why stay in a nation which professes Christ & Capitalism?
I’m sure people like Marx & Nietzsche are in hell. Both wanted to destroy Christianity. Both wanted to be Creators (see Atheist Humanist, by Henri deLubac). If there is NO GOD!, why make such a big deal out of destroying Him? Dumb! If there is no such thing as innate right or wrong, why tell us Communism is right & Christianity is wrong? Dumb! And, so, we have a nation full of dumb dumbs!
