I was having a conversation with a Native the other day at a reservation gas station in New Mexico. I explained to him, “Jesus said, I am THE way (not just A way), THE truth (not just A truth), and THE life (not just A life); NO MAN comes to the Father but by ME” (John 14:6). “Well,” he replied, “I believe Jesus came to the Indians and they know Him; the medicine men know Him (even today).” I earnestly replied, “Go ahead, and try to present Jesus to the medicine men, and you will see real quickly that they’ll HATE YOU and they HATE HIM!” His response was, “You just don’t understand … you’re not Native.”
Well, 2+2=4, right? That’s the point that came to mind. Truth is true, NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE, and NO MATTER WHO I AM. Just like Math is true no matter who you are, and no matter who I am – because it is TRUE. I can teach Math to a classroom full of students from every country, nationality, culture, and tribe. It doesn’t matter where the teacher is from or where the students are from, when it comes to teaching FACTS or TRUTHS.
“I am the TRUTH…” So, Jesus is THE TRUTH, no matter who presents Him; no matter who they present Him to.
We all NEED JESUS.
He actually COMMANDS His people to GO OUT into ALL nations to ALL people to SPREAD THE TRUTH (Matthew 28:18-20).
Be thankful He cares enough about us ALL to send messengers to us!
I pleaded with this man to think about the fact that Natives worship animals and spirits, and the medicine men practice witchcraft, shapeshifting and many other pagan rituals. (We have helped many Native Americans from All Tribes for many years.)
He didn’t disagree with the facts, but … “You just don’t understand…” was his hindrance.
Jesus understands. He said ALL MEN must lay aside ALL SIN, including witchcraft and traditions of men (Revelations 1:8; 22:15). Jeremiah 10:2-4 — “Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain…” Furthermore: “Unless you repent,” Jesus explained, “you will ALL likewise perish” (Luke 13:3,5). This is true if you’re Irish, English, African, Chinese, East Indian, Native American or anything else. We ALL have vain customs passed down to us. We ALL must lay aside sin, including our traditions that stand against the One True Way of Jesus Christ the Lord. He said, “No man comes to the Father BUT BY ME. And if you don’t like me saying that because I’m not who you are, well, it just doesn’t matter. It’s still TRUE. He commands me to say it because He cares about you.
I hope you reconsider and pray to Jesus to get saved.
