Genesis 3:5 (The serpent said…”For God knows that in the day that you eat of it, your eyes will be opened and you will be like God”…)
The Music industry is a trap of Satan to capture souls and drive them away from God and His ways and purposes. For us to understand this, we must go back to the beginning for the origin.
Let’s look now in the 28th chapter of Ezekiel, verses 13-17. It reads, (13) “You, (speaking of Lucifer) were in Eden, the garden of God. Every precious stone was your covering; the sardius, topaz, and diamond, onyx and jasper, sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold. The workmanship of your timbrels and pipes was prepared for you on the day that you were created. (14) You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you; you were on the holy mountain of God; you walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones. (15) You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, till iniquity was found in you. (16) By the abundance of your trading you became filled with violence within, and you sinned; therefore I cast you out of the mountain of God; and I destroyed you, O covering cherub, from the midst of the fiery stones. (17) Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor. I cast you to the ground, I laid you before kings, that they might gaze at you.”
In these passages, we see that Lucifer (now known as Satan) was the covering cherub in Heaven. He was the most beautiful and talented of all God’s created angelic realm. The word speaks of his “timbrels and pipes” which Bible scholars have traditionally taught, refers to his voice and musical ability. It is a widely accepted belief that Lucifer was the Heavenly music worship leader, who because of his enormous talent and incredible beauty, became lifted up in pride and was cast down to earth along with 1/3 of the angelic host who followed him. That same spirit of rebellion is reflected here on earth in many ways but most noticeably in the music industry. The most talented and beautiful of God’s human creation are groomed to become just like Lucifer, who desired to be worshipped as God. Isaiah 14:13-14 says, (13) “For you have said in your heart; I will ascend into Heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation on the farthest sides of the north; (14) I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.”
These deceived souls desire to be idolized “stars” and seek the love and adoration that only God deserves and is worthy to receive. Even Christians have fallen prey to this abomination and end up compromising their faith for stardom much like Lucifer who traded his wisdom for splendor. How does this happen?
First of all, these believers are either ignorant of God’s word or they choose to ignore it. They are consequently blinded to Satan’s deception as a result. Mark 4:19 tells us (paraphrasing) that the distractions, pleasures and delights of false glamour and the deceitfulness of riches causes believers to fall into Satan’s trap… the desire to be worshipped and idolized as a god. (Idolatry is defined as the veneration of anything or anyone above God Almighty.) The music industry is composed of such people, Christians and non-Christians alike. From the top to the bottom, whether producer, promoter, or performer, back-up musicians and vocalists to headliners, the goal is the same…. fame and fortune at any cost. I once heard a well-known evangelist say that what you compromise to keep, you will eventually lose. This is confirmed in God’s word in Mark 8:36… “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?” Also in Mark 8:35 we read, ”For whoever wants to save his (higher, spiritual eternal) life he will lose it (the lower, temporal life which is lived only on earth); and whoever gives up his life (which is lived only on earth) for My sake and the Gospel’s will save it ( his higher spiritual life in the eternal Kingdom of God.) (Amplified Bible.) Sadly, so many Christian entertainers at all levels have so compromised their faith in order to gain exposure and achieve stardom, that their very salvation is in jeopardy. We must pray for these deceived brothers and sisters that God would open their eyes to see their error and bring them back to their right mind and they would return to their first love, Jesus Christ. Amen!
I know from first hand experience how this trap of Satan is set. The booking agents and managers begin by having their performers lie by encouraging them to exaggerate and fabricate on their resumes and promotional materials in order to secure gigs (jobs). Then they target one’s appearance. Because “sex sells”, performers are pressured to dress, move and sing songs that promote sex and sensuality. The higher up you go in the industry, the more the “casting couch” is employed. The ones who refuse to comply fade into obscurity, while those who comply, succeed. However, this success is at the expense of marriage, family and physical and emotional health due to the various pressures and rigorous schedules the performers are obligated and forced to endure. This leads to the abundant use of alcohol, drugs and anything else that brings false peace, thereby causing the solution to become a bigger problem. The outcome in most cases is multiple divorces, abandoned children, broken hearts and broken lives, which unfortunately can lead to death.
But thanks be to God, who has provided a way out through Jesus Christ. Hebrews 2:18 states; “For in that He Himself has suffered being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.” Hallelujah! In Deuteronomy 30:19 God urges us to “Choose Life.” The choice is ours to make. Do we choose God or money, Heavenly riches or earthly riches, Eternity in Heaven or Eternity in hell? Just remember this…. God rewards His followers. (Hebrews 11:6….God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him”…) and (Psalm 47:4 “ Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.”) Satan always ultimately punishes and destroys his followers. He who loves the world does not love God ( 1 John 2:15) and he who loves God does not love the world and it’s enticements to sin. Amen! To God be all the glory!
