I recently read a quote that said, “Americans are fond of the Bible, but they don’t actually read it!”
This reminds me of what Jesus said concerning the scribes & Pharisees: “The scribes & the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. Therefore, whatever they tell you observe, that observe and do, but do not do their work. For they speak but do nothing. They fasten heavy loads that are hard to carry and lay them on men’s shoulders, but they themselves will not move them with their finger.” -Mt. 23:1-4.
Biblical illiteracy is not uncommon among Bible believers – Oxymoronic to say the least. So, with the loss of Biblical engagement comes Biblical illiteracy. Duh!
Most importantly, we need to know the founder of Christianity – Jesus Christ the Lord- who makes the claim to be the WAY-TRUTH-LIFE –Jn. 14:6. And, sadly, too many professors of THE WAY don’t even know Him.
So, we can see WHY we’re losing the “Culture war,” hence, the growth of Political correctness/Transhumanism. We can’t merely spout certain Scriptures – that support our religious/ social/ sexist/ racial/ political views; we’ve got to practice what we preach/teach/believe. The problem is, today’s Church wants to domesticate God’s Word in order to “fit in” with the world’s views. Won’t work. The Emergent Church et al. has wrangled God’s Word so as the world accepts it – You can find scriptures to support most worldly ideas of today if you are recalcitrant – refuse to believe/obey. Recalcitrance is the norm today. The modern Church has nearly trashed exegesis – determining Scriptures original meaning, the Church’s egregious convolution – “Scripture twisting”- has the world’s views/fads/norms/ideals etc. interspersed all thru their “new Christianity.”
But there are some – be they a small percent- who believe/live within the world of the Spirit/Word, inoculated against all this transmogrifying world of “make-believe.” God has an Army, a Holy Tribal Nation, a New Testament Ekklesia that refuses to compromise for Satan’s desires.
The straight & narrow is just that – straight and narrow. If you follow the yellow brick road (fool’s gold), you will end in HELL!
The Choice is ours. You snooze, you lose! The Holy Spirit implores us to repent if we’ve turned aside onto the Broad Way. Amen.
