Jude 7 blows the LGBTQ+ theory to pieces that Sodom & Gomorrah was destroyed for their inhospitality to the two angels (Gen. 19). While inhospitality was looked upon – frowned upon – the cause of the destruction of those two cities was sexual sins. Verse 5 tells us, “And they (men of the city of Sodom, vs.4) called to Lot & said to him, ‘where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may KNOW them carnally,” as one version states. Other versions read, “Bring them out to us that we may KNOW [be intimate with] them.” (Amp. Bible). Not a hint of the “sin” of inhospitality, just raw LUST for homo-sex!
The use of the word “know” is an euphemism for “to have sex with.” (Gen. 4:1 uses the word “knew” for having sex with.
If this is not convincing, try Gen. 18:20: “And the LORD said, ‘Because the outcry against Sodom & Gomorrah is great, & because their sin is very grave.” Let me cite one more Scripture in case you LGBTQ+ folks are not convinced: “For we (angels) will DESTROY this place, because the outcry against them (sex-perverts) has grown great before the face of the LORD, & the LORD has sent us to DESTROY it.” (see 1 Chron. 21:15 where God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it!)
So, the “OUTCRY” was not because of Sodom & Gomorrah’s inhospitality but because of sexual perversions. Jude 7 verifies what I’m saying: “Even as Sodom & Gomorrah, & the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, & going after strange (queer) flesh, are set forth an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.” One version reads, “… acted immorally & indulged in UNNATURAL LUST…” Still another version reads, “… gave themselves over to IMPURITY & indulged in UNNATURAL VICE & SENSUAL PERVERSITY…”
Some versions of the Bible use words like “sexual immorality” “perversion” instead of “fornication” (KJV). Don’t be misled by the “F” word, which normally we think of as sex before marriage. The Strong’s concordance has 3 Greek words that define fornication: #4202, 4203, & 1608. 1608 is the only Gk. word among the other 31 usages. Jude 7 uses 1608: “ekporneuō,” “to be UTTERLY unchaste.” The Greek “ek” or “ex,” is a prim. prep. denoting origin, “vehemently without;” other Gk. words that describes “fornication” are “porneia” = “harloty & idolatry” / “porneuo” = “harlot, indulge unlawful lust (or either sex or same sex), practice idolatry, commit fornication” / “pornē” = “a strumpet, an idolater, whore” (male or female), / “pornos” – “a male prostitute (as venal), a debauchee (libertine), whore-monger.”
So, Sodom & Gomorrah gave themselves over to homosexuality (I’m sure the women were lesbians as well?). Nearly ALL Bible scholars (except the “queer” ones) agree that Sodom & Gomorrah were cities of sexual perverts. (note: I cover this particular subject in more detail in my “Gay Way” series).
It is hard to miss the meaning behind “strange flesh,” aka “sexual immorality” in Jude 7. Their SIN & punishment are recorded in Gen. 19. In case God’s “punishment” is just too harsh & unloving, consider that sinners shall meet the punishment due to their crime or crimes. Eternal (i.e. never-ending fire!!!) fire awaits sex-perverts, male or female or trans!
The word “strange” (NKJV et al.) in Jude 7 is a particular Gk. word – Strong’s #2087 = “heteros” = “other or indifferent” – There are 4 other Gk. words used for “strange” in the N.T. 2087 is the only one used for Jude 7, (see #245, #3581, & #3570 how they are used).
This definition tells us that “strange flesh” means “men with men,” as opposed to “men with women.” Homosexuality (lesbianism also) is a perversion, i.e. having sex with “the other or different” than what God intended. The other Gk. word is “heterōs” (from 2087), meaning “differently, otherwise.”
Tell me, you who believe S/G were destroyed for inhospitality, does Jude 7 reflect this skewed belief?
Speaking of hospitality, it is found only 4 times in the Bible: Romans 12:13; 1 Tim. 3:2; Titus 1:8, 1 Peter 4:9 – all Greek words: “Philonexia” – SC #5381; “Philoxenos” – SC #5382; None of the above is connected with punishment/eternal fire! Yes, in Judaism there was a law to be hospitable but failure to obey this law never carried an eternal punishment.
Before closing, turn to 2 Peter 2:10 where Peter mentions “… the corrupt desire of the sinful nature” (NIV), which, many believe refers to homosexuality, the SIN of the Sodomites (2:6 where Sodom & Gomorrah is mentioned). Jesus Himself refers to Sodom & Gomorrah in relation to God’s punishment. He also brings up Sodom in Mt. 11:23,24. Paul makes mention of Sodom & Gomorrah in his epistle to the Romans (9:29).
So, Sodom & Gomorrah were punished for their sexual perversion, i.e. homosexuality. God poured out burning sulfur (Gen. 19:24) – a fair taste of the ETERNAL FIRE that is to come upon all who deserve it.
William Barclay’s The Letter of Jude (Daily Study Bible Series, 1976) I believe has the best interpretation of Jude 7: “Just so Sodom & Gomorrah & the surrounding cities, who in the same way as these took their fill of sexual sin & strayed after perverted sexual immorality, are a warning by the way in which they paid the penalty of eternal fire.”
Jude’s purpose of his epistle is to WARN those “who turn the grace of our God into LEWDNESS & deny the only Lord God & our Lord Jesus Christ” – Jude 4, (NKJV). Some translations have “blatant immorality” (Gk., “aselgeia”). The corresponding adj. is “aselgēs.” Aselgēs refers to the man who is so LOST to decency that he does not care who sees his sin – he arrogantly & proudly flaunts it. What do you think “Gay Pride Month” is all about? The whole LGBTQ+ movement is a movement of SHAMELESSNESS! No decency!
We know Jude was not just writing about homos per se, but about Gnosticism/Docetists who had infiltrated the N.T. Ekklesia in order to twist the grace of God into a justification for their immorality. Have not these “gay” churches denied Jesus’ righteousness & God’s Holy Scriptures (against sexual immorality). Jude said certain men have wormed their way into the church, i.e. “crept in unawares, -Gk. “pareisduein” = seductive & clever words being used: “Hey, God loves us, for He created us gay!” Really?
You’ve been warned!
