I was reading from one of those small Our Daily Bread publications that are placed in pods here at the Correctional Facility. What caught my attention was about a story, actually a testimony, about a man who had been imprisoned for 2 years because he served Jesus. It said that this prisoner had read stories of missionaries who felt constant joy throughout their incarceration, but he confessed this was not his experience.
Well, neither is it mine. I have just served 5 years and 2 weeks for Jesus. What did I do? Nothing that I was accused of, but because my wife and I are leaders of NM Christian Ekklesia, we have been the target of the vicious media since 1983 (which articles began to appear in the Sacramento Bee (Sacramento, California). This media persecution has been continual up until our arrest in August of 2017. (See our Aggressive Christianity web site for more info).
But back to this article. He confessed that he did not enjoy “joy” but endured suffering. This is not being negative but being honest. I would be lying if I said my time was one of joy. The larger part of my suffering was over my wife’s sentence – a 72 years – 72 YEAR – sentence for something she was accused of but was not true (see her Habes Corpus on AC website. All charges were dismissed after she served 4 ½ years in Grants women’s prison).
Our article went on to say that this prisoner could relate to Jeremiah’s experience (Jeremiah 20:18 is quoted): “Why did I ever come out of he womb to see trouble and sorrow and to end my days in shame?”
Trust me, I have felt the same thing more than once, even confessed it. The fear of seeing my wife die in prison was hard to endure. She was in her early 70s when arrested. 72 years is a long time when one is 70 plus years old already. Thank God her HC revealed the truth of how the state set her (us) up.
From the get go, when Deborah and I went public (radio) back in the 1980’s we were hated for what we preached and taught (see our PX2 Files of persecution and prosecution, a Trilogy). The church didn’t like our message (too Biblical!) and the world didn’t like it either, but we kept calling ALL to REPENT and be saved.
You recall that God’s messenger/prophet Jeremiah was called while still in his mother’s womb (1:5), as he grew the LORD called him to be a prophet to the nations (1:5). The LORD told him “DO not be afraid of them…” (v.8). His mission was to be “Mission Impossible” or “Mission Possible:” “To UPROOT and to TEAR DOWN, to DESTROY and to DEMOLISH, to BUILD and to PLANT” (1:10). He was told, “prepare yourself; stand up and tell them all that I command you. Do not be terrified on account of them, or I will terrify you before them… they will fight against you, but not prevail over you…” (Jeremiah 1:17-19).
There is no doubt that Deborah was called to be one of the LORD’S/Lord’s/Spirit’s Prophetess (female). She has a tremendous gift of prophecy (1 Corinthians 12:10) and other gifts. Something that has been attacked over and over by the world and church “Spirit Haters!”
Just as Jeremiah was called/destined to become a prophet before his birth (see also Isaiah 49:1). Some believe this to be the servant reference to Jeremiah 1:5; see Luke 1:15, reference to John the baptist being filled with the Holy Spirit from the womb; Galatians 1:15-16 reference to Paul’s aka Saul’s call from the womb.
Jeremiah was faithful in his commission/mission, who had faithfully served the LORD by WARNING Judah that He would punish them for their sins. Well, if any of you think being a prophet is “fun in the Son,” better listen up. See what happens to the real prophets of God – even to Jesus.
Jeremiah was beaten and put in stocks, even in an underground prison where he sunk in the mire! … for giving WARNING of Judah’s impending invasion by the Babylonians, God’s weapon.
Jeremiah was a mere man with a mission. Anointed and appointed, yet a man. He was under pressure by God to tell the king of Judah the truth – invasion was at hand: surrender or perish! The New American Bible reads: “You seduced me, LORD, and I let myself be seduced; you were too strong for me, and you prevailed. All day long I am an object of laughter; everyone mocks me. Whenever I speak, I must cry out, violence and outrage I proclaim; the Word of the LORD has brought the reproach and derision all day long,” (Jeremiah 20:7,8).
[See Deborah’s blog where some Words of the Spirit are posted daily. We have tens of thousands of prophetic Words in print dating back to the later 1970s and 1980s – 2022]. Not all Words are warnings but many are instructions in righteousness/correction/wisdom-knowledge and understanding. Some WOS are blessings whereas other are cursings.
All one has to do is look up Aggressive Christianity Mission Training Corps/General Jim and Deborah Green to see what I’m writing about.
Jeremiah wrote: “CURSED be the one who bought the news to my father, ‘a child, a son, has been born to you!’” (20:15). He was so distraught that he wrote, “Let that man be like the cities which the LORD relentlessly overthrew; Let him hear war cries in the morning, battle alarms at noonday,” (20:16), “because he did not KILL ME in the womb! Then my mother would have been my grace, her womb confining me forever,” (20:17). Those words are words of a man void of joy. Been there, done that! We may recall what Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 1:26-31: “Consider you own calling… not many of you were wise… powerful… of noble birth. Rather, God chose the foolish of the world to shame the wise, and God chose the weak of the world to shame the strong… the lowly and despised of the world, those who count for NOTHING, to reduce to NOTHING those who are something, so that no human-being might boast before God…”
So, my dear readers, I confess I have done what Jeremiah had done on a few occasions (see “The Necks of Our Enemies” publication for one of these times), I felt totally forsaken of God while Deborah, myself and our 2 small children, Sarah and Joshua narrowly escaped death aboard a contraband ship leaving Panama and going to Columbia.
