A speaker made this prayer: “Will you (God) not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?” – Psalm 85:6, NKJV
The New American Bible reads, “Certainly you will again restore our life, that your people may rejoice in you.” – Psalm 85:6
In the NKJV, verse 4 uses the word “restore”: “Restore us, O God of our salvation, and cause your anger toward us to cease.”
“Restore us, God of our salvation, let go of Your displeasure with us” (NAB).
Psalm 85 is a national lament reminding God of past forgiveness (vv. 2-4 in the NAB; vv. 1-3 in the NKJV). Whoever wrote Psalm 85, they were begging God to have mercy on them in real time as He had done in the past. The plea for God to teach and unite them is found in verse 11 (NKJV): “Teach me Your way, O LORD ; I will walk in your truth,; Unite my heart to fear your name.”
Apropos
To the point: I have, over the years, presented article-after-article (along-side Prophetic Words of the LORD/Lord/Spirit) describing how God is ANGRY with this nation (USA) and with nations of the world. People have responded with both OUTRAGE and with, “It is true!” I have shown via Scripture that the LORD/Lord/Spirit does exhibit wrath/fury/indignation against both His sinful people and the world’s people – yesterday and today. The same God/Spirit that inspired Solomon to write Ecclesiastes 3 is the very same God/Spirit that is punishing nations today.
Let us never think that the “judgment God” of the Old Testament is not the same in the New Testament. Ecclesiastes gives us insight into the affirmation that God has determined the appropriate moment or “time” for everything. We ARE in the time of His displeasure, as is evident by all the terrorizing and destructive events that are occurring. We can blame “climate change,” the darling of those who push their “One World” agenda of CONTROL! Blame it till we drop dead in exhaustion, but it is God who is in TOTAL and COMPLETE charge. Moreover, all this violence is the result of the world having forsaken the way of God and following the way of god, i.e., “the god of this present world,” satan. Not only has the world thrown off every restraint of decency, the universal Church has followed in its footsteps (with exceptions). The exceptions are the ones still holding on and praying the prayer of Psalm 85.
In the midst of all this waste of human life and property, God will REVIVE those of us who still hold fast to Him/Them … while all HELL rages about us.
Do we reap what we sow? The Bible says so.
The author of Psalm 85 reminds those of us who are the LORD’s readers/listeners of truth: “You [O LORD] forgave the guilt of your people, pardoned all their sins. You withdrew all your burning anger” (vv. 3-4, NAB).
America Needs Salvation!
DESPERATELY! While the Left and others are enjoying the rotten fruits of their damnable/abominable rebellion against God and His standards, He has not forgotten all of us who are holding the line. He will REVIVE us again.
I’ve spent the last 5 ½ years of my life in a State prison for my faith; my wife served 4 ½ years and is now out, sending me “Words of the Spirit” daily.
Revive … Restore! Yes, Lord!
Read God’s Word, ponder, repent, be REVIVED!
Revive
Let me give you the definition of this word – “revive” – first in the Hebrew, then in the Greek. (Note, I use Strong’s Concordance🙂
I’m just citing three texts where “revive” is used: Psalm 85:6 (NKJV), Isaiah 57:15 and Hebrews 3:2:
“For thus says the High and Lofty One who inhabited eternity, whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, with him who has a contrite and humble spirit, to REVIVE the spirit of the humble, and to REVIVE the heart of the contrite ones.” Lots to ponder here.
It is obvious that one’s spirit and heart can suffer defeat, experience spiritual death. Can we all say AMEN?
Look up these texts in association with verse 15: Job 6:10; Zechariah 2:13; Psalm 34:18; 51:17; Isaiah 61:1-3.
Isaiah 57:15 presents God in both a transcendent and an immanent manner. God’s holiness is the transcendent quality; the immanence is shown in the choice of dwelling among the WORN and TORN and the humble.
Friends, there is no time to rise up in humanistic pride: it is the time to keep low, humble, needy of His courage and strength. We can NOW experience revival in our bodies, souls and spirits. I need to be revived and restored. Prison can be a tomb of death if one does not hold fast to the LORD/Lord/Holy Spirit.
Habakkuk
Habakkuk wrote: “O LORD, I have heard your speech and was afraid; O LORD, REVIVE your work in the midst of the years! In the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy” (Habakkuk 3:2, NKJV).
Let us pray this prayer daily: “In wrath, remember mercy.”
As His wrath is on the move globally, let us pray that some will be spared. I’m not one to be a delusional dreamer – “all will be spared” – I believe multitudes will PERISH in their sins and go to Hell forever. Please read the Prophetic Words I’ve mentioned.
In the course of years, Habakkuk prays for God to revive His work of the past. We, who wait upon the LORD (as in Isaiah 40:31) long to see His revival power come again. I believe His revival/revolutionary power will once again fall upon this land, despite the Communistic spirit, the antichrist spirit that is contaminating the whole nation. His Holy Spirit will show mercy amidst His wrath.
Revive: Hebrew, chavah, a primary root, “to live”: chayah, “to live (lit. or fig), make alive again, nourish up, quicken, restore, recover, repair, make whole; chayuwth, living.”
Revived: Hebrew, same as revive; see Judges 15:19; 1 Kings 17:22 and 2 Kings 13:21.
Revived: Greek, anazao, “to recover life (lit. or fig.), be alive again” (note: ana, a prefix: “reversal”).
The Greek expresses the word revived (anazao) in Paul’s letter to the Romans: “For to this end Christ died and ROSE AND LIVED AGAIN, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the Living” (Romans 14:9).
Reviving: Hebrew, michyah, “preservation of life, quicken, recover.”
Ezra 9:8 (NKJV) mentions the word “revival”: “…that our God may enlighten our eyes and give us a measure of revival in our bondage.”
This is why I write this article: “God gives us a measure of REVIVAL in the midst of bondage.” We have been held captive by the antichrists in the land. The spirit of antichrist has captured nearly the whole of America. Laws, antichrist laws, are being passed by the Big Bro. in order to take away our Christian rights and freedoms.
Ezra went on to write: “For we were slaves. Yet our God did not forsake us in our bondage, but He extended mercy to us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to REVIVE us,…” (v. 9; see 7:28).
Reviving and Revival = one and the same. If one has not been beat down, or fallen down, one needs no reviving. But there are times when God will not revive nor restore because man has gone too far into sin.
We live in a nation, a God-forsaken, lawless nation, that needs a spiritual AWAKENING. Pray for it.
