“A-G” generally means “Vanguard;” “V” means troops moving at the front of an army: the forefront of an action or movement.
Jesus in His earthly life was by all definition an Avant-Garde Candidate: He lived and moved outside the box, i.e. Judaism that had boxed up God in dogmas, rituals, traditions etc. that left no or little room for the Spirit. He made it known to His followers and potential followers “that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will in no way enter into the kingdom of Heaven” (Matthew 5:20).
Jesus truly was a revolutionary (see Matthew 23). How many in this Christian nation, so-called, are living in Christ and outside the “Jesus Box?” Oh, they’ve got ritual, form, and epiphanies, but they are like the S/P of Jesus’ day – religious but not righteous, hubris but not holy, have a creed but little cross. No weeping for the lost or for their own lost condition: “When he (Jesus) came near, He beheld the city (Jerusalem) and WEPT OVER IT” (Luke 19:41). Jesus foresaw what His own people – Jews – would suffer for their backsliddings, v. 42-44. HELL-ON-EARTH! Hundreds of thousands perished under the Roman invasion.
Q. Do you think America could suffer such a fate?
You see, the nation of Israel lived within their own box of righteousness/nationalism. They thought what they espoused was good enough. Their hypocrisy (see Matthew 23) was so banal they were enraged at this avant-garde preacher for getting too preachy! Jesus’ acerbic style was just too anti-Semitic! His magniloquent character, i.e. bombastic, was uneuphonious (harsh to their ears & eyes.) They considered Him to be a revolutionary/zealot of the worst kind; bellicose and belligerent.
Jesus was not one who haphazardly did His duty. No! He was devoted to revolution: overthrowing the existing hypocritical order. His delivery of cutting words – veracity – was accinate and on target. Jesus made it known to any-and-all that “The zeal of thine house hath eaten Me up!” Not so today among most “ministers.” They have become glorified babysitters to mega churches and mini churches. Today’s church had a “zeal” for the forbidden, the vile, the unholy.
Q. Do you think the Church has judgment coming?
The world is in trouble. The solution to the ungodly pollution is avant-garde revolution!
