It’s no secret: we live in an “age of RAGE!” Anger can be good – “Be angry, and do not sin,” (Ephesians 4:26); there is satanic anger and there is Godly anger. One destroys, the other builds.
We read numerous times in the Bible where the LORD demonstrates “anger,” e.g. “so the anger of the LORD was kindled…” (Exodus 4:14). Psalms 30:5 says, “For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life…” But we’re warned not to be quick-tempered, Titus 1:7. James tells us to be “slow to speak, slow to wrath.” Anger can be used to be creative, both for good and evil.
The mood of America is one of ANGER. Both political parties are at a “blowing up” stage. The populace for the most part have resurrected out of being satisfied to be satis-fried. Being “fried” is a 1960’s revolution word, e.g. “fried on drugs,” fried with political unrest. The Vietnam war fried many in their rage – anger against the war.
All the political “crap” America is drowning in, choking on, fries one’s nerves. The US is on the verge of implosion – race, gender, religion, politics, or what-have-you is anger related.
As stated in another article on “Anger,” Jesus’ Matthew 23 demonstrates for us “be angry and sin not,” we don’t have to become martyrs because we feel angry; anger against what is unjust, unethical, and immoral can be justified. Ephesians 4:26 implies that one can be angry AND SIN. Difficulties and differences are two things that makes one angry. America right now is struggling with racially based anger from both sides. Bi-racialism, whites vs. blacks, whites vs browns and the other way around has risen to new and dangerous heights… dehumanizingly so. Giving service of yourself, it is said, is more worthy than selling the service or goods of another. The “border” crisis is causing one HELL of a problem for both sides of the Rio Grande. The clash of culture hybridness is turning into a culture war/race war. Traumas mixed with anger is dangerous, like a match to TNT. A “wall” will not solve this problem.
While both sides of the political isle are sensationalizing this crisis, we need to pray that anger does not dominate the whole of things. Tempers are exploding like flash bombs, social/racial landmines are being laid, let us all be careful where we put our feet.
The spirit over the world today is that of “get angry and get even!”
